King Mountain is at the south end of the 70 mile long Lost River Range, separating the Big Lost River and Little Lost River valleys. The Lost River Range averages 5-6,000ft of vertical relief and contains 7 of Idaho’s 9 12,000’ peaks. These mountains are made up of striking folded Proterozoic and Paleozoic sedimentary rocks on the steep west side and high alpine lakes on the east side.
